Hour Schedule of Crafts and Activities
(Every Monday at the Rebecca Caudill Library at
3:30, and Thursday at the Harlan Library at 3:30.)
Aug. 11th and 14th
School Days…Join us here at the library as we read
about some of our favorite storybook characters going
to school.
Aug. 18th and 21st
“Who Stole The Cookies From The Cookie Jar?”
we’ll find out as we read the book, and make a
tasty snack too.
Aug. 25th and 28th
“Can You Tell Me How To Get To Sesame Street?”
We will find our way through stories of our favorite
Sesame Street characters.
Sept. 1st Labor Day, No regular scheduled Story Hour for
Cumberland.
Sept. 4th
Curious George Day! Have you seen that curious monkey roaming
around, join us as we go on an adventure with Curious George.
Sept. 8th and 11th
We celebrate our Grandparents on Grandparents Day here at the
library,
so bring yours and we will share stories and good times, and
read about
some too.
Sept. 15th and 18th
Bernstein Bears Day, we’ll read some of our favorite stories
about our furry little friends here at the library.
Sept. 22nd and 25th
Pet day, we’ll read about dogs and cats and other types of pets
and discuss how to take care of them. We may even have one to visit us at
the library.
Sept. 29th and 2nd
Library Campout!! Join us as we turn your neighborhood
library into an adventure campsite for spooky tales and one of
our favorite treats, s’mores.
Oct. 6th and Oct. 9th
Autumn is all around us! We will celebrate the beginning of a
Fantastic season. The leaves change colors, we will create our
own multicolored leaves by doing some leaf rubbing.
Oct. 13th and 16th
Columbus Day: Set sail with the Nina, the Pinta and Santa Maria
as we discover a whole new world with our friend Chris!
Oct. 20th
The Rebecca Caudill Public Library will have our annul Halloween
Costume Party: You definitely don’t want to miss this. We
encourage all children and their (adventurous) parents to wear a
costume to this event. Caregivers may bring a small bag of candy
to share among our little ghosts and goblins.
Oct. 23rd
Are you afraid of spooks? We’ll see when we tell some of our
favorite ghost stories and some humorous ones too here at the
Harlan Library.
Oct. 27th
At the Rebecca Caudill Library in Cumberland, we will host the
Great Pumpkin Contest. Everyone is encouraged to participate in
the event. Prizes will be given out along with certificates for
the best overall Pumpkin, The ugliest, The Funniest, The
Largest, The Smallest, The Scariest and the Most Unusual.
Oct. 30th
The Harlan Library will host their annual Costume Party. All
children including their parents are encouraged to participate
in this event. Parents may bring a small bag of candy to share
among our little goblins if they wish.
Nov. 3rd and 6th
Remember it is the time for fall crafts and fall baked goods. We
will make a special craft for the kids to take home, along with
a special baked goodie too.
Nov. 10th and 13th
Veterans Day: Join us as we remember and honor our Veterans on
these days here at the library. If you know a Veteran feel free
to bring them.
Nov. 17th
Soon we will be celebrating the season of the turkey, join us
here at the Rebecca Caudill Public Library for some Turkey
stories and you’ll even get to make a turkey craft of your very
own.
Nov. 20th
Turkey Day: Pilgrims, Indians and Turkeys oh, my!! Why do we
celebrate Thanksgiving the way we do? The children will learn
about this holiday and its tradition.
Nov. 24th
Here at the Rebecca Caudill Public Library is Turkey Day. We
will read some Thanksgiving stories and learn about why we
celebrate this tradition.
Nov. 27th
Thanksgiving Day: The library will be closed on this date and
story hour will be cancelled. Have a good Thanksgiving, gobble,
gobble…
Dec. 1st and 4th
Winter Days: Snow is around the corner… Join us here at the
library as we read stories about snowmen and snowflakes and make
some of our very own.
Dec. 8th and 11th
Christmas Decoration: Join us as we create a beautiful ornament
to hang on the tree for Christmas.
Dec. 15th and 18th
Sugar Cookies: Today we will have our annual Christmas Cookie
Bake. Join us in cookie making (or playing). *We may have a
special jolly guest on the 18th at the Harlan Public Library.
Dec. 22nd
Christmas Party: Have you been naughty or nice? We will have our
annual Christmas Party. We might even have a special and jolly
visitor to the party.
Dec. 25th
Merry Christmas!! Story hour will be cancelled on this day,
have a holly, jolly Christmas and be safe.
Dec. 29th
Join us here at the Rebecca Caudill Public Library for show and
tell, children may bring in one of their favorite Christmas toys
and share with the rest of us.
Jan.1st
New Year’s Holliday: Happy New Year!! Story hour will be
cancelled on this following day and will return back to regular
schedule on January 5th and 8th.
